Our attitude: The development of employee skills is directly related to customer satisfaction

We believe that all staff at Maruhachi should be bedding and sleep professionals which is why we conduct training courses to train employees in becoming specialists in these fields. We have devised our own training curriculum that educates trainees so that they become futon specialists. Initial training consists of the following regimen: New trainees are taught the basics that all employees are expected to observe such as politeness, correct behavior towards customers and so forth. They then progress on to studying the discipline required for working in a team, gaining product knowledge and also understanding the structure of the Maruhachi Group. To improve the employee's career prospects within the company, this education is then further enhanced by undergoing training specific to the trainee's section so as to deepen his or her specialist knowledge. In-house training systems are backed up by additional training programs conducted outside the company. It is our sincere aim that all thus trained staff can work as bedding consultants and could actively participate in the company as model employees.

This company has not only devoted a considerable amount of time and money to the training curriculum, but also regards as very important the equipment used for such education and the environment in which it takes place. The training facilities in Shizuoka Prefecture for the exclusive use of Maruhachi employees are set in the Lake Hamana hinterland and resemble a luxury resort hotel with its elegant white appearance. In addition to the latest educational equipment, it also contains leisure facilities including a heated pool and tennis court because it is considered appropriate that the trainees' program combines healthy relaxation with the training curriculum. We have however other impressive facilities such as the video viewing room where trainees can watch our Video Education System videos. As we have a video exchange arrangement with affiliate companies, employees are encouraged to see and appreciate company life in these other firms. Even if they do not engage in these varieties of training programs, we have established a system whereby they can independently study. There are also lectures given which are primarily on the subject of our new products but lectures on cultural themes and practical education seminars are also regularly conducted. Maruhachi believes that training systems should not suffer from a lack of cultural activities.
